The Silk Scarf

1.) SETTING
The scene of the story is the Oriental Plaza, Fordsburg, Johannesburg; a shopping centre where shops are owned by Indian people. The Plaza developed as a result of the apartheid governments' Group Areas Act, which forced different race groups to live separately.

2.)  PLOT/SUMMARY
Mrs  Nebo, wife of a newly appointed Foreign Affairs Minister Clive  Nebo, and her friend Margaret were on a shopping expedition. The two ladies came at the portals of the Plaza, each in a chauffeur-driven Mercedes Benz, with their two escorts. Upon strolling the Plaza, Mrs Nebo saw a lovely Indian dress on a dummy in a shop window and decided to go buy it. After she bought  a similar garment , she asked wether there was a silk scarf that will match perfectly with the dress she has just bought, but all scarves were not of her interest. She went from shop to shop until she came to a shop of  Mr Sakur were she found a silk scarf that she wanted so badly. Afterwards, she took the scarf but was fifteen rands short and so unable to buy it with cash and so decided to get it by offering a cheque to the shopkeeper. Mr Sakur then refused and told her he doesn't  accept cheques in his shop. She becomes more and more insistent that she should have the scarf. Her friend, Margaret, has also intervened to defend her but the man remained adamant to his shop's law which was written on a sign in the shop. The two escorts later entered the shop when they heard what sounded like a dispute. Several shopkeepers opposite Mr Sakur's shop heard the dispute and entering, wanted to know what was happening. Mrs Nebo then told them that the man was refusing her cheque and that he think she want to defraud him. After the shopkeepers heard that Mrs Nebo was a wife of a man that has an important figure in the government, Mr Sader one of the shopkeepers warned others of the consequences that might arise. He then decided to persuade Mr Sakur to accept the cheque, but he is not going to change his principles because Mrs Nebo is important or rich. Mrs Nebo told them afterwards that she won't leave without the scarf and chased the two escorts out of the shop to go wait outside. Mr Sader the think of a way to rectify the matter so he bought the scarf to Mrs Nebo and gave it to her as a present. Mrs Nebo was so grateful to him and told Mr Sakur that people like him they won't have place in the new democratic South Africa.

Through the tunnel

1.) SETTINGS
The story played in summer at the beach ,at the beach's shore and in the sea. It also played at a place called villa where Jerry and his mother were living.

2.)PLOT
Jerry, a young English boy, and his mother are vacationing at a beach they have come to many times past years as said in "Through the tunnel" by Dorris Lessing. On their second day at the beach, Jerry asked his mother for permission to go and have a look at some rocks. The mother agreed since she doesn't want the son to feel overprotected, and the boy went to this wild-looking place. The boy was good at swimming and was enjoying himself before he went to a small cape where he met some native-boys that were running, naked, down to the rocks. The boys started diving and soon gave Jerry a turn to dive, although they can't understand Jerry's language, they were so kind to him. Soon the biggest of the boys shot down into the water and all of them stood about watching and after waiting for a long time, the boy came up on the other side of a big dark rock. Jerry was so curiuos about what he saw and decided to give it a try, so he demanded to have swimming goggles with which he had discovered that the was a tunnel through which the biggest of the boys swam. After all the hours he had been underwater studying the tunnel thoroughly, that night, his nose bled badly. That day and the next, Jerry exercised his lungs to be able to cope without breathing for such a very long time that he will spend underwater. Two days before they were to leave to the beach, Jerry's nose bled so badly again and he turned dizzy and he almost gave up. When it was the right day to swim through the tunnel, Jerry was trembling with horror at that long tunnel under the rocks. He then dived in the water and started counting and swimming as fast as he could. After such a long-dangerous time underwater, he finally made it through and was again at the surface. Creating My Blog

I wasn't expecting to use a gmail account number nor to be called immediately after I sent a verification code. You must atleast send the verification code via sms and not by calling people, what if someone is deaf? or maybe having hearing problems at the moment? Next time you must do both, sms and afterwards call the person. After creating my blog account, I have been experiencing problems with posting and commenting on other people's accounts. You made me suffer because of your tidious process of commenting that took me almost a month. Blogger is also not responding on most cases and used to take such a long time to access a person. Selecting a layout is also one of the problems i had encounter so far. It wasn't easy for me  to change my page layout at all. You asked too many details about a person's characters and occupation, which i guess were irrelevent to my profile. I can't even chat with people that are using blog accounts. Shame!!!
